Dear colleague,

Are you looking to make a difference? Are you an innovative leader with vision and ambition for both yourself and the Services you manage? Are you committed to co-production; with team members, with partners, with parent/carers and with children?

If the answer to these three questions is ‘yes’ then there are key Head of Service roles in Children’s Services at Hertfordshire County Council that could be the job you have been waiting for!

  • Head of Quality Assurance & Practice
  • Head of Assessment
  • Head of Commissioning Children Looked After and Safeguarding

We are looking for social work leaders who are able to establish and sustain nurturing and productive relationships with our dedicated and skilled workforce so that we have a safe, effective practice framework for the delivery of prevention, social work and commissioned services which meet the help, protection and support needs of Hertfordshire’s children.

With our sector-leading role in Family Safeguarding and the forthcoming national policy decisions in response to the Review of Children’s Social Care and the Child Safeguarding Practice Review Panel report into Child Protection in England, this is both an exciting and challenging time to be joining a progressive and ambitious Council with an aim to be at the cutting edge of excellent social work practice which ensures Hertfordshire’s vulnerable children receive the support and help they need.

Working in one of these vital roles, you will have the ability to steer the implementation of any practice, policy, service changes and quality improvements within Children’s Services and in the multi-agency arena, including contributing to the work of strategic partnerships across Hertfordshire and the Eastern Region.

In return, we offer development opportunities, a competitive benefits package, together with a challenging and rewarding role that provides scope to be innovative and make a significant contribution to the leadership of social work services, the County Council and across the county of Hertfordshire.

If you are interested in one or more of these opportunities and have the ability and track record to deliver our aspirations, we would be delighted to receive your application.

We look forward to discussing these roles with you.
